David Ortiz is apparantly not happy about the lack of extension talks. Originally reported by Enrique Rojas of ESPNDeportes.com, Zach Links relayed the message on MLBTradeRumors.com.
This is why I suggested back in June that the Red Sox avoid the Derek Jeter situation with Ortiz, and get him signed to a 2 or 3 year deal. It really is not that big of a risk for the Sox and they are going to have to overpay more the more they upset him. You can count on David Ortiz for 30 home runs and 100 RBI's almost every season and even if he declines to hitting .270 or so, it's not like he is a detriment to the lineup. He has also hit left-handers very well this year.
So Theo Epstein, hear the call of Red Sox Nation and get your DH signed to an extension that is fair. Hopefully, David can understand that he doesn't play the field and is not entitled to superstar dollars. Knowing Ortiz's personality, I can't imagine that becoming a problem.
